According to the details, a massive explosion was reported in a power plant in Middletown, CT around 11 am. Local media is reporting that multiple ambulances and firefighter trucks were seen at the scene soon after the incident. Local media of the Middletown, CT is also reporting that every fire truck of the city was sent at the scene. So far two deaths and a dozen injuries have been reported. No confirmed number of deaths and injuries is yet known. The locals in the neighboring areas are saying that at the time of the blast at least hundred employers were present inside the power plant. The shockwaves created as a result of the explosion were felt across the Middletown, CT and many locals shared their experience on Twitter immediately. Many locals talked about hearing loud sounds of rumbling and felt the ground shaking after the explosion. Some Twitter users even wrote that it was perhaps a sonic boom. It is reported that the shockwave was felt as far as 12 miles away from Middletown, CT.
Local media is reporting that high flames could be seen rising from the scene and witnesses report black smoke clouds which could be seen from several kilometers. The gas of the power plant has been shut down.
It is being reported that this Middletown, CT power plant was a 620 megawatt gas-fired facility.
